Turn the oven to 350°F (176°C). Use a food processor to blend the black beans until smooth. In a big bowl, mix together the bean puree with the eggs, oil, and vanilla.

Stir together the cocoa, sugar, salt, baking powder, and the coffee (if using) in another bowl. Add this dry mix to the wet mixture, then toss in the chocolate chips and combine.

Prepare an 8x8 or 9x9 pan by greasing it and pressing in parchment paper. Pour batter into the pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the edges look done and the center is mostly firm.

Let the brownies cool all the way down before you cut them into pieces.
