Simple Sausage Rolls (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base Ingredients

01 - 2 rolls of ready-to-bake crescent dough
02 - 1 pound of breakfast sausage (turkey or pork, your choice)

→ Cheese & Seasonings

03 - 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
04 - 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (or your favorite blend)
05 - 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened to room temp
06 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

→ Finishing Touch

07 - 1 whisked egg to give it that golden brown look (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Turn your oven to 375°F (190°C) and let it heat up. Place a parchment sheet or non-stick mat on your baking tray to stop sticking.
02 - In a skillet on medium heat, brown the sausage until it's thoroughly cooked. Drain the grease, then set it aside to cool slightly.
03 - In a big bowl, stir the cooled sausage together with shredded cheese, softened cream cheese, black pepper, and garlic powder until well blended.
04 - Lay out the crescent dough and pull apart the triangles. Scoop a good amount of the sausage mix onto the wide end of each triangle, roll them up, and place them seam-first onto the prepared tray.
05 - For an extra golden finish, brush the tops with a little beaten egg if you'd like.
06 - Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until they're golden brown and baked all the way through.
07 - Dig in while they're hot! Pair them with mustard, ketchup, or a creamy gravy if you're feeling fancy.

# Notes:

01 - Looking for extra flavor? Toss in scrambled eggs with the filling!
02 - Fans of spice can add red pepper flakes or pick a hot sausage.
03 - Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven when ready to eat.
