Cheesy pork with onions (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Pork Chops Essentials

01 - 4 pork chops with the bone in
02 - Pepper and salt, as much as you like
03 - 1 tablespoon of olive oil

→ Onion Blend

04 - 2 medium onions, sliced thinly
05 - 1 cup sour cream
06 - A can of cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
07 - 1/2 teaspoon of thyme (optional)
08 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
09 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder

→ Cheesy Topping

10 - 1 cup of fried onions (French style)
11 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and let it heat up.
02 - Sprinkle both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper to your taste.
03 - Put the olive oil in a large skillet and warm it over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and cook each side for 3-4 minutes until lightly browned. Move them to a plate when done.
04 - Using the same skillet, toss in the sliced onions. Let them cook for about 10 minutes, stirring now and then, until they're soft and brown.
05 - Combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme (if you want to include it) in a bowl. Stir it all together until smooth.
06 - Take a baking dish and spread half the soup mix evenly on the bottom. Lay the browned pork chops on top, then cover them with the rest of the soup mix so they're fully coated.
07 - Add the cooked onions over the chops, sprinkle on the shredded cheese, and finish by spreading the French fried onions on top.
08 - Cover the dish with foil, place it in the hot oven, and bake for 30 minutes.
09 - Take the foil off and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese melts and the fried onions are crispy.
10 - Take it out of the oven, let it cool for a bit, then serve while warm.

# Notes:

01 - For onions that cook perfectly, keep the heat on medium-low and add a splash of broth or water if they begin to stick.
02 - Chicken thighs or turkey cutlets can take the place of pork chops, but adjust the cooking time as necessary.
03 - No cream of mushroom soup? Try making your own by mixing 1 cup of milk with 2 tablespoons of flour and throwing in sautéed mushrooms.
04 - Pack up leftovers in a container with a lid and keep them in the fridge for up to 3 days.
05 - Go ahead and make this ahead—it can sit in the fridge until you're ready to bake. Add 10-15 minutes extra to the cooking time if doing so.
