Loaded Chili Dogs (Print Version)

Grilled franks smothered in beef chili and melted cheddar.

# Ingredients:

→ Beef Chili

01 - 1 tsp cooking oil
02 - 1 medium onion, finely chopped
03 - 14 oz crushed tomatoes from a can
04 - 1 lb lean ground beef (85/15)
05 - 2 minced garlic cloves
06 - 1 tsp yellow mustard sauce
07 - 2 tbsp thick tomato paste
08 - 1 cup broth made with beef stock

→ Seasonings

09 - 1 tsp ground cumin
10 - Pinch of ground cinnamon
11 - 1 tbsp smoked paprika
12 - 1 tbsp spicy chili powder
13 - 1 tsp dried oregano
14 - 1 tsp onion powder

→ Assembly

15 - 12 sausage-sized hot dog buns
16 - 12 fully cooked hot dogs
17 - Optional: finely diced red onions
18 - Optional: dill pickle chips
19 - Grated cheddar cheese for topping

# Directions:

01 - Brown the ground meat with the onions and garlic. Stir in the seasoning mix and the tomato paste until combined.
02 - Add all liquids and leave it on low to medium heat for 30 minutes to 2 hours to get nice and thick.
03 - Heat hot dogs on a grill over medium heat for about 7-10 minutes. Toast buns for 1 minute right at the end.
04 - Layer mustard in the bun, add the hot dog, pile on chili, sprinkle cheese, and finish with any of your favorite toppings.
