Green Heart Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of unsalted butter.
02 - ⅔ cup sugar for the mix, plus some extra for coating.
03 - 2 egg yolks, large.
04 - 1 tsp of vanilla.
05 - A few drops (3 to 5) of green gel food coloring.
06 - 1 and 1/4 cups of plain flour.
07 - Half a tsp of baking soda.
08 - A pinch (1/4 tsp) of fine salt.
09 - 12 tiny red heart decorations.

# Instructions:

01 - Set the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking tray by covering it with parchment paper.
02 - Melt the butter first, then blend it with the sugar, egg yolks, vanilla, and green gel coloring until smooth.
03 - Gently stir in the flour, salt, and baking soda until you’ve got a soft dough.
04 - Break the dough into 12 pieces, roll them into balls, coat them in sugar, and arrange them on your tray.
05 - Bake for about 10 or 11 minutes until they spread and crack. While warm, place the heart decorations on top.
06 - After 2 minutes on the baking tray, move the cookies to a cooling rack to finish.

# Notes:

01 - Gel food colors work best for vibrant hues.
02 - Dough or finished cookies freeze well.
03 - Pop the hearts on while cookies are still warm.
