Golden Salmon Patties (Print Version)

Golden, crunchy salmon cakes made with canned fish and pantry basics. A wallet-friendly crowd-pleaser.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 14.75 oz canned salmon, drained well and broken into pieces
02 - 1/2 cup crushed crackers or breadcrumbs
03 - 1/4 cup diced green bell pepper (optional)
04 - 1/4 cup minced onion

→ Binding & Seasonings

05 - 1 beaten large egg
06 - 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
07 - 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
08 - 2 tablespoons of mayo
09 - 1/2 teaspoon table salt
10 - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
11 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or granules

→ For Cooking & Serving

12 - Lemon slices to serve (optional)
13 - 2 tablespoons neutral oil for frying

# Directions:

01 - In a bowl, stir together salmon, onion, peppers, crackers, egg, mayo, lemon juice, mustard, and other seasonings.
02 - Divide mixture evenly and shape it into six flat patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
03 - Add oil to a skillet on medium heat. Fry the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side, until crunchy and browned.
04 - Set patties on paper towels to remove extra oil. Serve hot with a wedge of lemon.

# Notes:

01 - Use either crackers or breadcrumbs to bind the mixture together.
02 - You can mix everything ahead of time and chill the mixture in the fridge.
03 - Feel free to add extras like fresh herbs or some hot sauce.
