Cheesy Bowtie Beef Dish (Print Version)

Creamy garlic butter pasta loaded with ground beef and melty cheese, ready in about half an hour.

# Ingredients:

→ Beef and Pasta Prep

01 - 12 ounces (340g) farfalle (bowtie pasta)
02 - 1 pound (450g) ground beef, browned
03 - 1 small onion, diced fine
04 - 2 garlic cloves, minced fresh
05 - 2 tablespoons olive oil for cooking
06 - 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
07 - Dash of salt and black pepper, adjust to taste
08 - ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

→ Butter and Cheese Sauce

09 - 3 tablespoons butter without salt
10 - 1 garlic clove, minced finely
11 - 1 tablespoon plain flour
12 - 1 cup (240ml) milk (from 2% or whole milk)
13 - ½ cup (50g) Parmesan cheese, grated fresh
14 - 1 cup (100g) mozzarella, shredded
15 - Chopped fresh parsley for topping

# Directions:

01 - Boil a lot of salted water in a pot, then toss in the bowtie pasta. Follow the package advice to cook it to just tender enough (al dente). Save ½ cup of the water before you drain the rest, and set the pasta aside.
02 - Warm the olive oil in a big frying pan over medium heat. Add ground beef, letting it brown while breaking it into crumbles for about 5-7 minutes. Toss in chopped onions and garlic, cooking until onions turn see-through, roughly 3 minutes. Mix in Italian herbs, and chili flakes if you'd like spice, then season with salt and pepper. Remove from the pan and keep aside.
03 - Use the same pan for the sauce. Melt butter over medium heat, then sauté minced garlic for a minute to release its aroma. Mix in flour and cook for a couple of minutes while stirring to make it smooth. Slowly pour in milk, constantly whisking, and let it simmer gently to slightly thicken in about 3 minutes.
04 - On low heat, add mozzarella and Parmesan to the sauce, stirring until everything melts together. Combine the beef mixture and drained pasta, coating thoroughly in the sauce. If it feels too thick, thin it out with some reserved pasta water.
05 - Spoon the creamy pasta and beef into serving bowls. Top with fresh parsley and sprinkle extra Parmesan on top if you'd like.

# Notes:

01 - Toss in veggies like spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers to make it healthier and tastier.
02 - Keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Add a splash of milk before you reheat it on the stove.
